The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has decided to stage the Super Eight Round matches of the FFSL Champions League 2025–26 tournament from January 28 to March 30.
Accordingly, the following teams have qualified for the Super Eight Round:
Group ‘A’: Saunders SC Colombo with 14 points, New Star SC Panadura with 13 points, Serendib FC Mawanella with 13 points and Java Lane FC Colombo with eight points.
Group ‘B’: Pelicans SC Kurunegala and Police SC, both with 12 points, Solid SC Anuradhapura with 10 points and St. Mary’s SC Jaffna with eight points.
Crystal Palace FC, Negombo Youth FC and SLTB from Group ‘A’, along with Super Sun SC, Moragasmulla SC and Matara City Club from Group ‘B’ failed to secure places in the Super Eight Round.
Sri Lanka’s oldest football club, Saunders, stood out with an exceptional performance throughout the league phase becoming the only unbeaten team to qualify for the Super Eight Round. Saunders won four of their six matches while the remaining two ended in draws.
A notable development was the failure of defending champions Matara City Club to qualify for the Super Eight Round. Representing Group ‘B’, Matara City lost four of their six matches and managed only one draw falling short of qualification.
Another disappointing performance came from the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) team which lost all six matches they played. They managed to score only one goal across the entire league phase, while conceding 30 goals to their opponents, highlighting their struggles.
