CR and FC extended their unbeaten run with a commanding 19 points (3 tries, 2 conversions) to nil victory over Army SC in their second-week’s meet of the inter club league rugby championship at Panagoda yesterday.

The Red Shirts took control just in time early and maintained their dominance until the game was halted at halftime due to heavy rain, lightning and unplayable ground conditions.

CR crossed the line three times with skipper, Lasindu Karunathilake, Venura Kodagoda and Omalka Gunaratne touching down. Thenuka Nanayakkara added the extras with two accurate conversions, giving the visitors a comfortable cushion before play was stopped.

Army created several opportunities but were repeatedly denied by CR’s organised and rock solid defence which held firm under pressure. The home side’s inability to finish their moves proved costly in a match shortened by weather.
