The inter club rugby League 2025/2026 resumes today with Sri Lions hosting Army SC at Longden Place after a somewhat unexpected two week break.

The fixtures finally unfold following the postponement of the third and fourth week’s matches due to rain and flooding.

However the spotlight will fall on Saturday’s match between CR and FC, who return to the action eager to extend their unbeaten run, and CH and FC in what promises to be a spirited Colombo clash.

With the momentum already on their side, the Red Shirts will look to settle quickly back into competition rhythm at Longdon Place.

CR, led by the dynamic Lasindu Karunathilake, enter this fixture buoyed by two commanding victories earlier in the season, an emphatic 65/8 triumph over Sri Lions, followed by a 19/0 win against Army after the match was halted at halftime due to thunder and lighting.

The side has further strengthened its arsenal, with Samoan powerhouse who plays in Australia, Alvarez Gasolo, in their backline.

They will also showcase young speedster Vishenka Silva, the 2025 St. Peter’s College captain whose inclusion adds fresh energy to their attacking ambitions.

CH meanwhile will rely heavily on their youthful core as they attempt to halt CR’s unbeaten charge.

Skipper Janidu Dilshan, supported by vice-captains Danushka Malitha and Maliksha Perera, will shoulder the leadership burden as they seek stability and accuracy after an inconsistent start to the season. Their ability to stay composed in defence will be vital against CR’s fast-paced style.

Today Sri Lions will be determined to bounce back after losses to CR and Havelocks while Army SC will be equally hungry for their first league victory following narrow setbacks against Air Force SC and CR.

On Saturday, Air Force SC face Navy SC in a crucial battle for early entry into the Cup segment’s top four.

Air Force appear well positioned to maintain their flawless record.

As the league restarts amid improved conditions it promises renewed intensity, fresh storylines and a compelling run of fixtures for fans eager to see the competition regain full flight.

All matches will kick-off at 3 pm.
