Rain curtailed the first day’s proceedings of the three-day Major Club Tier ‘B’ cricket encounters played around the island which had play being called off early due to rain.
In the match between Sebastianites and Leo CC played at the Army ground in Kosgama only 59 overs of play was possible with Sebastianites taking first lease of the wicket making 201 for 2 on the back of an unbeaten knock of 106 by Rusiru Vilochana who shared a 188 runs stand for the second wicket with Sandun Fernando who made 66.
Kandy Customs SC made 155 having faced 56.5 overs while SSC ended the day on 13 for 0 in 3.2 overs at Dombagoda.
Galle CC was on 191 for 7 from 55 overs against Moratuwa SC when play was called off at Anuradhapura and in another rain shortened match United Southern SC was on 136 for 4 off 34 overs of batting against Malay CC in the match played at Sooriyawewa.
The matches will be continued today.
