Bridge-builder ex-football secretary Upali Hewage no more

The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) said it was deeply saddened to announce the passing away of its former secretary and vice president Upali Hewage yesterday morning.

Hewage, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, was one of the finest administrators in the history of Sri Lankan football. 

His lifelong commitment and tireless efforts to use football as a unifying force to connect communities across the country will be remembered with great respect and admiration.

He also built up a working relationship with media personnel whose role in the promotion of sport he greatly valued.
His legacy and contributions to the development of football will remain an inspiration to the entire sporting fraternity for years to come.
