The March Monthly Medal conducted by the Royal Colombo Golf Club and sponsored by NCG produced impressive scoring across all divisions, with Ruwan Bakmedeniya delivering an outstanding round of 61 Nett to emerge as the Overall Nett Winner. Bakmedeniya also dominated Division C, winning the Nett title and securing the Gross title with 89, completing a remarkable double in the handicap 19–28 segment.
In Division A (Handicap 0–9 Nett), Riahn Pieris clinched the winner’s title with 70 Nett on a back-nine countback, edging out Noordeen Sethwala, who also returned 70 Nett to finish runner-up. The Gross title in Division A was claimed by Kumar Danushan, who carded an impressive 70 Gross.
The Division B (Handicap 10–18 Nett) contest was equally competitive, with Nirmal Dharmaratne securing victory with 70 Nett on a back-nine countback, narrowly beating Janaka Tebuwana, who also recorded 70 Nett. In the Division B Gross category, Nisantha Perera topped the field with a solid 80 Gross.
The Division C (Handicap 19 to 28) was won by Bakmedeniya, while Ivor Mahroof was runner-up with 67 net. Ruwan also accounted for the gross, having a field day securing the overall win as well.
Veteran golfers also showcased their class in the Seniors Division, where Kan Butani claimed the Nett title with 64, while Harendra De Silva finished runner-up with 67 Nett. De Silva, however, bounced back strongly to win the Seniors Gross title with an excellent 78.
In the Masters Division, Lanka Santha emerged as the Nett winner with 64, while Anura Somaratne secured runner-up honours with 66 Nett before going on to win the Gross title with 83 on a back-nine countback.
In the Junior Division, Hirusha Pramuditha captured the Nett title with 67, while David Karunaratne finished runner-up with 68 Nett and went on to secure the Junior Gross title with 79, capping an impressive performance.
In the Ladies Silver Division, Anusha Senadhira won the Nett title with 73, while rising junior Kayla Perera finished runner-up with 76 Nett and also claimed the Gross title with the same score. In the Bronze Division, Ravini Perera won the Nett event with 71, with Shirani Buffin runner-up with 74, while Usha De Silva secured the Gross title with 95.
In the Ladies Seniors Division, N. Amarasuriya emerged as the Nett winner with 75, followed closely by Kalyani Ranasinghe with 76 Nett, while Myungock Jane Hong captured the Gross title with 92.
Kushal Johnpillai won the Longest Drive at the 8th hole, while Janaka Tebuwana claimed Nearest to the PIN at the 9th hole, rounding off another successful RCGC Monthly Medal, which saw more than 280 golfers tee off.
