Sri Lanka’s wheelchair tennis players Suresh Dharmasena, Lasantha Ranaweera, Gamini Dissanayake, Suresh Ranaweera and Wijesiri Wijesirige recorded back to back wins in the first round matches of the BNP World Qualifier Tennis tournament played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath Colombo.
In the first match Sri Lanka defeated India 3-0 with Lasantha and Suresh Dharmasena winning the singles matches and the pair of Gamini Dissanayake and Wijesiri coming out on top in the doubles event.
The Sri Lankans followed it up with another 3-0 win against Taipei with Suresh Ranaweera and Gamini Dissanayake winning the singles events and Gamini along with Wijesiri Wijesirge taking the doubles event.
Sri Lanka are down to play two matches against Pakistan on Thursday and Korea on Friday. The tournament is being contested by five countries India, Pakistan, Korea, Taipei and host Sri Lanka.
