The second round of the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series 2025 is set to take place at the Race Course grounds in Colombo on October 18-19, with both the Men’s and Women’s divisions featuring strong line-ups. The event promises top-class action as Asia’s finest Sevens outfits battle for supremacy ahead of the season finale.

In the Men’s Pool ‘A’ features defending champions Hong Kong alongside China, Malaysia, South Korea and the Philippines, making it a tightly contested group. Pool ‘B’ is headlined by Japan, who are joined by UAE, Taipei, and Thailand – a mix of experience and emerging talent. Pool ‘C’ sees China, Uzbekistan, Singapore and hosts Sri Lanka set to clash, and it is expected to be a packed stadium on both days.

The Women’s segment will also see fierce battles across three pools. Pool ‘D’ comprises Japan, India, the UAE, and Indonesia, while Pool ‘E’ includes China, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Pool ‘F’ has Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Singapore, ensuring several exciting matchups.

The Colombo leg is expected to deliver fast-paced rugby, local flair, and intense rivalries as Asian teams chase vital series points in this penultimate round.

Experienced sevens players Srinath Sooriyabandara, Diluksha Dange and Heshan Jensen all three returned for training and will be available for selections. The Sri Lankan squad will be announced later today, with former Vidyartha and Kandy SC crack winger Kavindu Perera leading the outfit.
