Algama pockets the Gold at Kandy’s junior golf

The Regional Junior Golf Championship 2025 sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread and Bakery concluded at the Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella producing some outstanding and exciting performances across all junior divisions.

Reshan Algama fought back on day two and three to secure the Gold Division (15 to 18 plus) with a total score of 215. He was in top form from day two onwards showing his consistency. His closest rival was Jevahn Sathasivam with a total of 218 after leading on day one lost the grip on the following two days. In the same segment Keya Abhayaratne was in sparkling form totalling 262 getting the better of Aaraadhi Samararathne who was runner up with a total score of 270.

In the Copper Division Jaeden Sathasivam made a clean sweep in this segment winning with a total score of 108. This was his fourth title in tandem as he moved forward for the Bronze event next year. Abhiman Abeywardhana another talented junior from Anuradapura was second with a total score of 117. In the girls’ segment Dulkini Kangara won with a total score of 133 while Sanuthi Thangaraja was runner up with a total of 160.

In the Bronze Division (Boys) Yuvan Rathiskanth carded 192 and won the event pushing Anushara Perera who was runner up with a total score of 194. In the same segment (Girls) Fathima Zeeniya with 205 won while Vihara Herath with 208 was the runner up.

Silver Division (Boys) segment saw Lavidu Premarathna showing his dominance with a total score of 244 while Udeera Bandara with 260 was the runner up. In the same segment for girls Genuli Weerakoon won with a total score of 283 while Venudi Keerthana with 311 was the runner up.
