Ayomal Akalanka renews his record

Upcoming young athlete Ayomal Akalanka of Ambagamuwa Central College established a new meet record in the Boy’s 400 metre hurdles on the second day of the Junior National Athletic Championship 2025 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama yesterday.
The meet is conducted by Sri Lanka Athletics. Akalanka shattered his own record of 52.53 seconds by clocking 50.20s in the Boy’s Under-20 400m hurdles.
The second place in this event was won by U.G.K.H. Uyanwatta of Trinity College (53.88s) and third place was won by Ravidu Jayathissa of Royal College, Colombo (54.40s).
Overall seven new meet records were established at the end of the second day.

G.R. Dharmadasa (St. Joseph’s Balika, Kegalle) Under-16 Girl’s 300m hurdles - performance 45.99s - Previous record 46.44s in 2023
Selvarasa Nirusika (Arunodhaya College, Alaveddy) Under-20 Girl’s pole vault - Performance 3.40 metres - Previous record 3.34m in 2016
Dilki Nehara (Sri Sumangala Balika, Panadura) Under-18 Girl’s triple jump - Performance 12.44m - Previous record 12.19m in 2024
