ATF U-14 Tennis Championships - Week 2: Damsath bags back-to-back ATF titles

Damsath Peiris, who won the ATF Under-14 Boys’ & Girls’ Week 2 Tennis Championship singles title, bagged his second title of the championship when he clinched the boys doubles title by coming out victorious in the final played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo, yesterday.

Damsath, partnered by Yudeeraya Athapaththu, who incidentally was his singles final victim, defeated the Sri Lankan pair Buvindu Jayawardena and Udeera Gunasinghe in a hard-fought encounter by two sets to one.

This was Damsath’s double title win, as he also bagged the singles and doubles in the ATF Under-14 Boys’ & Girls’ Week 1 Tennis Championship played two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the girls doubles finals saw Mithrayavinda Sathis (USA) and Sanvi Reddy (India) getting the better of the Sri Lankan pair of Annaya Norbert and Sansa Damsiluni with an easy 2-0 victory.

In the semi-finals of the two categories, Mithrayavinda Sathis (USA)/Sanvi Reddy (India) came out on top against Hatitishwari Nattu and Diya Ravi Kumar of India, while Damsath Peiris and Yudeeraya Athapaththu defeated Thuvakar Satheesh and Dehan Chanthula of Sri Lanka, with winners prevailing by identical winning margins of two sets to nil.

Boys: Damsath Peiris/Yudeeraya Athapaththu (Sri Lanka) beat Buvindu Jayawardena/Udeera Gunasinghe (Sri Lanka) 2-1 (6/1, 5/7, 10/6)
