Sri Lankan athletes Chamod Yodhsingha and Safiya Yamic emerged as South Asia’s fastest man and woman at the 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship 2025, which concluded yesterday in Ranchi, India.
The three-day championship, featuring six South Asian nations (excluding Pakistan), witnessed outstanding performances from the Sri Lankan contingent.

Adding to Sri Lanka’s triumphs, both men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams clinched gold medals, defeating hosts India in thrilling finishes. The Men’s 4x100m relay team — comprising Pramudith Silva, Sandun Diyalawatta, Indusara Vidusan, and Chamod Yodhsingha — clocked 39.99 seconds to win gold.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 4x100m relay team — featuring Dhananjana Fernando, Amasha de Silva, Rumeshika Rathnayaka, and Safiya Yamic — finished in 44.70 seconds to claim their gold medal.
Sri Lanka’s dominance continued with international-level sprinter Kalinga Kumarage winning the Men’s 400m final in 46.21 seconds.
