39th All Island Schools Games Athletic Championship 2025 Maris Stella Negombo, Lyceum Wattala lead points table 15 new records established

Maris Stella College, Negombo, and Lyceum International School, Wattala, moved to the top of the boys’ and girls’ overall points tables, respectively, at the end of the third day (October 12) of the 39th All Island Schools Games Athletic Championship 2025.

Accordingly, Maris Stella College has accumulated 50 points in the boys’ category, while Lyceum International School, Wattala, leads the girls’ category with 80 points. 

Thibirigaskatuwa Maris Stella College is placed second in the boys’ category with 29 points, while Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya, secured second place in the girls’ category with 27 points.

The five-day championship, organised by the Ministry of Education, is currently being held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama and will conclude on October 14.

So far, 15 new meet records have been set during the competition. Among the highlights was a remarkable performance by upcoming school athlete Tharushi Abhisheka of Wickramabahu National School, Gampola, who shattered the National Record in the Under-18 Girls’ 1500m event, clocking 4 minutes and 29.47 seconds. 

The previous record of 4 minutes and 49.97 seconds was also held by her, established in 2024.
