A group offormer Green party provincial members and several former Diyawanna members who have stood by the party through thick and thin have reportedly proposed to the party leadership to join hands with the Telephone party to contest the upcoming polls.

This news is said to have highly ruffled a party stalwart from the South and he had lost no time in telling the party chief that the time was not opportune for them to have any truck with the Telephone party because that party in fact, was going through a bad time and some Diyawanna members of that party were planning to rejoin the Green  party. He had also asked the party chief to take into consideration the Greenparty’s prestige and pride of place in the country’s political landscape.

Meanwhile, a section of the Green party had reacted angrily to the Southern colleague’s meeting with the party chief to oppose the ‘unity talks’ and has decided to turn their guns on him treating him as an obstacle to the party’s progress, they say.
