Children of today are very intelligent and smart, and they become individuals from a very early age, with aspirations of who they want to become, what they want to do, and where they want to go. Therefore it is very important that we teach them about how to interact and live in this world from a very young age.

This is exactly what Kidz Planet has in mind, located at Poorvarama Road in Colombo 05 at a discreet location; Kidz Planet is a haven for kids and has the right idea to educate young minds in a fun and innovative way. Opened in early July the concept is new to the island with great potential.

The founders of Kidz Planet Farill Farook and his Farzana who were based in California, USA, says the idea behind starting this venture is to develop a child’s mental development and bring out what a child could do the best giving the opportunity for a child to select the career path they wish to become in later life. We are using the oldest method of learning which is “Role play” where the child will experience real life scenario of day to day occupations of adults.

The concept here is to create real life scenarios for children to ‘play’ in, with skill and activity based indoor and outdoor play area. A miniature city with different occupations where children can engage in role playing is how they intend to achieve this. They have grocers, firemen, a doctor, a nurse and possibly every single occupation one could think of, which would stimulate the child’s mind, spark interest in the different roles available to them and teach them the importance of each role.

Inside Kidz Planet, children put on miniature uniforms of doctor, nurse , chef, pilot, police officers and fire fighter and many more. They are given assignments and asked to play out roles, interacting with one another. At the entrance of Kidz planet children will be trained as adults where they would receive a cheque which they have to deposit at the Kidz planet bank and receive currency and tokens, the currency could be handed over at each activity and role play. Children have the opportunity to learn the skill they always aspired in an creative and fun manner at Kidz Planet

In addition, this will help children to improve their communication skills within the family unit and within society and they will be able to put into practical use the lessons learnt in school. In addition Kidz planet encourages outdoor play with facilities of basketball, Cricket, soccer , rugger , table tennis and a mini golf .

With many interesting and novel activities planned, under a safe, hygienic and adult supervised environment, children will certainly enjoy this new way of learning, and parents can be sure of giving them a quality education while keeping the little one’s entertained.
