Fashion Bug makes CSR effort towards public health

In its recent CSR activities, Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka’s leading retail clothing stores with over 17 outlets island-wide, refurbished the maternity ward at the Ragama-based Colombo North Teaching Hospital for the beneficial of its needy patients.

The company is no stranger to similar initiatives of such nature, having refurbished many other wards at the Kalubowila Hospital, Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children and the Colombo Eye Hospital. In addition to its notable contribution towards students, this goes on to exhibit that public health is equally important for the benefit and wellbeing of general community.

Fashion Bug Director Shabier Subian said ‘‘as a socially responsible citizen we thrive to inject the triple bottom line concept of people, planet and profit. And as such we are delighted to have recently helped the Colombo North Teaching Hospital which is considered as the second largest hospital in Sri Lanka.’’

Placing an emphasis on the community aspect, Fashion Bug managed to refurbish this ward at the request of Rev. Thuruvila Wimaladharma, Chairman of Colombo North Teaching Hospital’s Development Committee and Deputy Minister of Indigenous Medicine Hon. Pandu Bandaranaike.

Rev. Wimaladharma opened the ward in the presence of A R M Thowfeek, Deputy Director of Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Dr. S H M Faraaz, Deputy General Manager - Fashion Bug, and several other officials from both establishments.

Fashion Bug commenced its operations since 1994 as a partnership business with 4 partners and a staff population of just 15, and today it possesses over 17 stores throughout the country with a workforce of over 1200 employees, and stands among the leading clothing stores in Sri Lanka catering with the fashion motto of 'Changing life Styles’.
