School Wall on the Brink of collapse

The boundary wall behind Kotahena Sinhala Kanishta Vidyalaya, located at 222, Maha Vidyalaya Mawatha (Central Road), Colombo 13, is in an alarming condition. A section has already collapsed (now covered with wooden  planks/plywood to prevent any trespassing into the school), while another portion—precariously leaning against a tree trunk—is on the verge of giving way.

This wall directly borders the walkway of the Armour Street Flats and the school premises, posing a grave risk to students, residents, and passersby. An immediate intervention is urgently required. The responsible authorities—be it the school administration, the Education Department, NHDA, CMC or the Disaster Management Centre—must take prompt action to demolish or repair the unsafe structure before it causes injury or loss of life, damage to vehicles parked in the vicinity, and also to remove the  garbage and debris lying beside  the wall.

Preventing a disaster is always better than responding to one. We sincerely urge the authorities to act without delay.
