Three arrested with heroin and Rs. 59Mn in cash

Three suspects have been arrested with 300g of heroin and Rs. 59 million in cash during a special raid by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) on Saturday.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspects, including a 37-year-old woman, were arrested in Welivita, Malabe and Kaduwela areas.

They were identified as residents of Kaduwela, Battaramulla and Nugegoda. He said the cash was seized from the possession of the main suspect.  He said this was the largest seizure of cash in the recent time, Police suspect that the money was earned from drug trafficking. DIG Rohana said they would be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate seeking a 7-day detention order on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
