New mayor for Weligama urban council

The new mayor of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha G. G. H. Yamuna Kanthi who was sworn in recently assumed duties in her new post.   

She was appointed to the post as former Chairman Rehan Jayawickrama lost his post and the seat in the Pradeshiya Sabha upon his crossover to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led by Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa.   

The Maha Sangha and other religious leaders participated in the ceremony held in connection with assuming of duties.
