Elephant tramples mahout to death in Neluwa

A domesticated elephant, used as a beast of burden to move logs in the Neluwa area, trampled its mahout to death.

The victim, Gangaboda Liyanage Sarath Gamini (57), was a resident of Theligama in Kitulagala.

The elephant, belonging to a resident of the Pallebedda area, had been hired by an individual to draw logs. The mahout, who received serious injuries, died upon admission to Neluwa Divisional Hospital. The Neluwa Police are conducting further investigations.
