Sri Lanka celebrates Iranian cinema

Iranian filmmaker Babak Lotfi Khajeh Pasha

Celebrating the iconic and unique cinematic culture of Iran, the National Film Corporation (NFC) has organised an Iranian Film Festival and a Master Class with the participation of renowned Iranian filmmaker Babak Lotfi Khajeh Pasha from February 14 to 15. 

The Iranian film festival will be held on February 14 with screenings at 10.00 am, 2 pm and 6.30 pm at the NFC theatre. A discussion between film directors, promoters, producers and Sri Lankan counterparts are to be held on the same day. 

International Director of Soureh Cinema Organization, Ms. Tahaei,  Filmnet Global Advisor, TV Producer, and University Lecturer Dr. Hesampour and Director General of Media Cooperation and Cyberspace, Islamic Culture and Communication Organization Mr. Mehdi Molaei are to participate at the discussion. 

The “Master Class” with the participation of renowned Iranian filmmaker Babak Lotfi Khajeh Pasha (The Director of In The Arms of The Tree) is to be held from 9 am on February 15 and it is to be moderated by Sri Lankan filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena. One of the most renowned filmmakers from Iran, Babak’s film In The Arms of The Tree was selected as the Iranian submission for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. (SRF)
