‘The Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town’ marked a historic milestone as it celebrated its 50th anniversary.This they did with a grand and heartfelt event that embodied the spirit of service, fellowship, and the enduring Magic of Rotary.Held at the Galadari Hotel, the evening brought together a vibrant gathering of Rotarians, distinguished guests, well-wishers, and sponsors, who joined hands to celebrate a journey of five decades rooted in compassion and service above self.

A heartfelt gift for ‘little hearts’

The highlight of the evening was the remarkable generosity shown by those in attendance — a collective act of kindness that raised Rs. 1.5 million in support of ‘Rotary for Little Hearts’, a vital initiative dedicated to funding life-saving cardiac surgeries for children with congenital heart defects.
This contribution, made possible through the heartfelt donations of attendees, sponsors, and well-wishers, will help transform the lives of countless children and families in need. It was a powerful reminder that when hearts come together, miracles happen.

A heartfelt note of appreciation is extended to District Governor Rtn. Sushena Ranatunga, whose unwavering support and passionate leadership have inspired and strengthened the impact of Rotary service across District 3220.
Under his guidance, the “Rotary For Little Hearts” was launched as a flagship initiative — a powerful, island-wide campaign to raise awareness and mobilise resources for children suffering from congenital heart disease. This unique journey has not only created visibility for the Rotary for Little Hearts cause, but has also unified clubs across Sri Lanka in a shared mission of compassion and healing.

The celebration dazzled with a high-energy drum ensemble by Rivisara Drum Institute, whose rhythmic performance captured the audience’s spirit and set a festive tone for the evening. Adding to the enchantment was a soul-stirring musical performance by Dr. Sean, whose artistry brought warmth, depth, and celebration to the night.

The success of this milestone event was led with dedication and flair by Event Chairman, Past President Hussain Fazleabas whose vision and planning ensured every detail reflected the grandeur and significance of the occasion.
Presiding over this memorable year is Rasini Bandara, the 50th-year President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, whose inspiring leadership has guided the club with heart, purpose, and vision.
