An Evening with the French Masters

The Alliance Francaise in collaboration with Menaka Sahabandu School of Music will present a recital ‘’An Evening with the French Masters” directed by Menaka De Fonseka Sahabandu, on Friday 28th October at 7 pm at the new refurbished auditorium of the Alliance Francaise de Colombo, No 11 Barnes’ Place Colombo 7.

The evening will feature French music from Opera, Art Song,  Musical Theatre as well as Piano and Violin repertoire. The programme will include works by Debussy, Faure, Massenet, Saint- Saens, Bizet,Chaminade, Offenbach, Cesar Frank among others. The audience will also be treated to popular french music such as Autumn Leaves, La Vie En Rose and La Mer.

Menaka is a Piano and Voice teacher in Sri Lanka who has trained many aspiring musicians to reach their goals as performers and as teachers, both here in Sri Lanka and abroad for over 35 years. She has been invited with her choir for full length operas both here and abroad, such as Pearl Fishers, Carmen and Si j’etais Roi.  Menaka is a Fellow of the Trinity College London(FTCL) in Piano and Voice, a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in Piano and Voice and more recently was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Australian Guild of Music Education. She is a visiting lecturer of the University of Visual and Performing Arts Sri Lanka and an Examiner and Instrumental and voice tutor for The Australian Guild of Music Education.
