KUWAIT - The Public Authority of Civil Aviation announced Thursday that Arab and foreign airline flights will resume at Kuwait International Airport on a phased basis starting June 1, following the completion of repair and rehabilitation work at Terminal 1 after damage caused by the Iranian attack on the airport in early March.

Authority head Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah said the resumption would proceed gradually according to an operational plan that ensures technical and operational readiness, smooth air traffic flow and passenger safety. The authority will continue assessing each phase in line with approved plans until full operations are restored. He added that all necessary work has been carried out to give Terminal 1 a fully renewed look, meeting the highest safety and security standards.

HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah visited the terminal on Thursday for an inspection tour accompanied by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Sheikh Hamoud. Officials briefed him on the repair and modernization work completed since the attack, and he chaired a meeting reviewing operational plans, inter-agency coordination mechanisms, and precautionary measures to ensure smooth passenger and air traffic movement.

HH the Prime Minister praised national staff for rehabilitating the terminal in record time, describing the reopening as “an important step toward restoring this vital facility to full capacity.” This year’s hajj flight schedule was also reviewed during the visit.
