The administration of the Pfizer vaccine to students sitting for the A/L examination and those who have previously sat will begin on October 15 in all Colombo education zones, Education Ministry additional Secretary (School Affairs) L.M.G Dharmasena said. Addressing the media at the Health Promotions bureau yesterday, he said the vaccination programme will be launched from Friday (15) in all Colombo education zones.

Accordingly, the program is scheduled to be run in educational zones including Homagama, Colombo, Jayewardenepura and Piliyandala.

This programme will run in line with the school’s opening on October 21 and following a special announcement by the President and Prime Minister, he said.

"The students should reach the closest vaccination centre after inquiring from the relevant school principals and it is compulsory to bring their National Identity Card (NIC). We have decided to administer the vaccine in a common vaccination centre, considering the schools with the lowest number of students," Dharmasena said.  He requested the children and their parents to visit the Education Ministry official website for this announcement for more details.
