LTTE, JVP destroyed country: Mihintale Chief Incumbent

Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara Ven. Dr. Walawahengunawewe Dhammarathana Thera said the country has declined since independence and that the politicians who ruled the country since then are responsible for this sad state.

Delivering an Anushasana that followed the religious activities in Mihintale temple to mark the 2282nd anniversary of Arahath Mahinda Thera’s  passing away, Ven. Dhammarathana Thera said the rulers were enjoying luxuries and are overfed while the ordinary people are suffering from malnutrition.

“The individuals who have been branded as destroyers of the economy would attempt to be patriots and hoodwink the people.  I request the people to reject them and not to be misled.  The LTTE terrorists and JVP both unleashed a wave of violence that ruined the country. It is the duty of the President as custodian of the country to uplift and protect the people instead of declaring high security zones to protect defrauders.”  The Ven. Thera said.
He further said Arahath Mahinda who preached the teaching of the Buddha to a group of sportsmen including the king and introduced the concept of custodianship and said that the present system should change to a similar system to save the nation from the present predicament.
