GI pipes case against Finance Minister Basil postponed due to the pandemic situation

A case filed against Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Director-General of Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka for allegedly misappropriating Rs.36.5 million of funds belonging to Divi Neguma Department to purchase GI pipes was yesterday postponed for November 16 by Colombo High Court.

The High Court deferred the case for November 16 as per the circular issued by the Judicial Servic poste Commission due to the spread of the coronavirus. 


The Attorney General had filed indictments against Finance Minister and former Director-General of Divi Neguma Department in the Colombo High Court for allegedly misappropriating Rs.36.5 million funds belongs to the Divi Neguma Development Department to purchase and distribute GI pipes during the 2015 Presidential Election.
