It is not wise to break ties with India when they have been our closest friend for the longest time. 

Sri Lanka was gifted Buddhism along with great teachings of life and humanity, by none other than our closest friend India, therefore, it is not wise to let go of that long term friendship, especially in times like this. Most Ven. Waskaduwe Mahindawansa Mahanayake Thera, Vice President Sri Amarapura Maha Nikaya said. 
At a recent media briefing of the Asada Purnima 2021 on Esala Poya Day organised by the International Buddhist Confederation New Delhi. Mahanayake Thera said, “We received a lot of valuable qualities along with Buddhism.”
