Veteran journalist D. B. S. Jeyaraj passes away

• He contributed to the Daily Mirror, Daily FT and now defunct Sunday Leader as well. His articles appeared in the Indian media as well such as The Hindu and Frontline

Seasoned journalist D. B. S. Jeyaraj passed away yesterday in Canada. He was 72.

He stepped into the field of journalism 49 years ago when he joined Virakesari as a staff reporter in April 1977 and moved to English journalism in November 1981 when he joined The Island. He contributed to the Daily Mirror, Daily FT and now defunct Sunday Leader as well. His articles appeared in the Indian media as well such as The Hindu and Frontline

An expert in Sri Lankan ethnic affairs, he also extensively wrote about Art and Culture. During the thirty-year long separatist war, he was an invaluable source of information for all major communities in Sri Lanka, Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims.   

His funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
