Shooter revealed as ex-Army Intel?

The main suspect arrested over Ganemulla Sanjeewa’s murder has reportedly been identified as a former Intelligence member of the Sri Lanka Army, the Daily Mirror learns. 
  
The suspect was arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in the Palaviya area of Puttalam.   

Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said that the suspect had used several names and possessed multiple IDs. One of the IDs identified him as a lawyer under the name Kodikarage Kasun Prabash Nishshanka.   

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Mohamed Azman Sherifdeen also.   

He was also identified as Samindu Dilshan Piyumanga Kandanaarachchi.   

The suspect was arrested while fleeing in a van.   

The spokesman said that after the shooting, the police identified the suspect and the female accomplice through CCTV footage and alerted all police stations to arrest the suspects before they flee the country.   

The suspect is believed to be the same gunman involved in the double murder at Watarappala in Dehiwala.   

The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations to uncover his true identity and the crimes he was involved in.   

Meanwhile, the police have also identified the woman who accompanied him, disguised as a lawyer.   

The woman, identified as Pinpura Devage Isara Sewwandi, is said to have brought the revolver used in the murder. The police suspect she is involved in drug trafficking and is a resident of Negombo.   

Investigations have revealed that she planned the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa in collaboration with underworld figure Manudinu Pathmasiri Perera, alias Kehelbaddara Padme, who is currently in Dubai.   

Investigations are also underway to arrest the woman involved in the shooting.
