Several spill gates opened as Kala Wewa, Parakrama Samudra reach capacity

The emergency spill gates in Kala Wewa reservoir were opened last morning to release excess water into Kala Oya at a speed of 13,443 cubic feet per second. Irrigation Engineers said the capacity of the reservoir had risen to 86,357 acre-feet by yesterday.
