Sri Lanka and India reiterated their dedication to fostering regional stability and enhancing strategic collaboration between the two nations, Ministry of Defence said yesterday.
This was revealed during a meeting between Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) and the Indian Defence Secretary, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in Karnataka, Bengaluru, India on Tuesday. The Sri Lankan defence secretary is in India to attend on going Aero India 2025 air show.
The discussions between the two dignitaries primarily focused on key areas of mutual interest, including measures to combat illegal fishing, strengthening maritime security and enhancing training opportunities for the defence forces of both nations. Additionally, they deliberated on avenues to further solidify bilateral military relations, fostering deeper cooperation in defence and security domains.
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring regional stability and strengthening strategic collaboration between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of sharing intelligence, conducting joint exercises and enhancing operational coordination to tackle emerging security challenges effectively.
