Minister, MP clash in Parliament over allegation

• MP alleges the Minister was removed from Fertilizer Corporation due to a fraud

A verbal clash erupted between Minister of Power and Energy Kumara Jayakody and opposition MP Ajith P. Perera, after the latter came up with an allegation that the Minister was removed from the Fertiliser Corporation due to a fraud.   

“Minister Jayakody was removed from the Fertiliser Corporation as he was found guilty of a fraud with regard to a tender. He filed a court case and lost it,” MP Perera said.  Minister Jayakody, who responded, challenged the MP to prove the allegation.  “I was never removed from the Fertiliser Corporation, but I resigned. You have to prove your allegation,” the Minister said.
