An individual who attempted to take nude photos of his 14-year-old daughter to be shared on the internet to earn money had been hacked to death by his wife.

The deceased Suranga Pradeep Kumara (37) of Thalvita was from the Wellawa Police area in the Kurunegala District and was an attendant of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital. He was the father of a 14-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.

Investigations revealed that he had opened a YouTube channel and that he had been collecting nude photos of young women to popularise it.
His wife had thrown chilli powder in his eyes when he came out of the bathroom and hacked him to death.

She told police that her husband had attempted at times to take their only daughter’s nude photos for the channel and that she prevented it, leading to family disputes and assaults on her.
Investigations revealed that he had locked her and her son and taken the daughter behind closed doors and attempted to take her nude photos. His wife had however entered the house, thrown chilli powder in his eyes, assaulted him with a sword and saved her daughter from the scandal. The victim had died on the spot.

The suspect woman, a garment worker, was taken into custody by the Wellawa Police.

OIC Wellawa Police CI Ajith Kumara is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Upul Chandana Abeysinghe and Senior DIG North-Western Province Kithsiri Jayalath.
