Hatton Colombo Road caves in

A vast area of the Colombo-Hatton A7 highway had caved in near Ginigathena Hindu temple last morning due to the heavy rain experienced in the area for the last several days.

Police said movement of traffic had been permitted single lane pending repairs to the road. A senior police officer pointed out that caving had occurred in a location which had been subject to erosion previously. He warned the drivers to be cautious when passing through the endangered area.
