Responding to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s assurance that those who were behind the Easter Sunday bombings would be exposed before April 21st this year, the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka expressed hope that he would keep his word.
“We always called for a proper investigation that moves smoothly. We believe that investigations are moving effectively, though it is not an easy task as the bombing actually took place almost six years ago. We are confident that CID has managed to uncover some information as to who was behind the attack. We expect that the government will reveal at least some of the information, though it may be difficult to reveal everything before April 21. We hope that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will keep his word,” Spokesman for the Archdiocese of Colombo Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando told Daily Mirror.
“We don’t know what the government will come out with. We hope the pledges will be fulfilled,” he added, indicating that there is some skepticism regarding the matter.
