SLPA marks 70th anniversary

The Sri Lanka Press Association (SLPA) marked its 70th Anniversary Convention and host the D. F. Kariyakarawana Memorial Journalism Awards on  yesterday (26), at the Hilton Colombo. Founded on October 9, 1955, SLPA is the country’s oldest journalists’ association and has been a pillar of Sri Lanka’s media landscape. During the milestone celebration, ten veteran journalists from print and electronic media, including Prof. Anura Wickramasinghe, Rosmand Senaratne, Manik de Silva, Daya de Alwis, Rasiah Selvaraja, Siri Ranasinghe, Indunil Kahawita Amarasekara, D. Oliver Silva, Mohamed Abubakar Phakurdeen, and Lal Hegoda, will be honoured for their outstanding contributions to the industry. Pix by Samantha Perera
