Red warning for strong winds and rough seas

The seas off the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka, are reported to be rough today, due to strong winds associated with prevailing southwest monsoon conditions. The Meteorology Department has issued a Red Warning for strong winds and rough seas, advising caution. Wind speeds in the affected sea areas may reach 60–70 km/h at times, leading to very rough sea conditions. The warning is particularly relevant for sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Kankesanthurai and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Pix by Pradeep Pathirana
