SriLankan Airlines gave a group of children their first flight experience yesterday on the occasion of World Children’s Day. Selected through an island-wide design competition, 250 children aged 12 to 15 had the opportunity to take a two-hour flight on a SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 aircraft, enjoying the scenic beauty of Sri Lanka from the air. For most of these children, it was a truly special moment, as it marked their first-ever flight.

The selected children were first welcomed at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, where ground operations staff and airport and airline personnel gave them an introduction to airport operations. They gained a full understanding of the processes involved in an international flight, including the check-in procedures and boarding protocols.

The aircraft carrying the children departed from Bandaranaike International Airport and flew over many iconic locations in Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Galle, Sri Pada, Piduruthalagala, Sigiriya, Mullaitivu, Delft Island, Anuradhapura, and Negombo, before returning to Katunayake Airport.
