Army donates copra for Dalada Perahera illuminations

In keeping with a revered annual tradition, the Sri Lanka Army, for the 12th consecutive year, donated six tons of dried coconut kernel (copra) to support the illuminations of the historic Esala Perahera held by the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) in Kandy.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Army, presided over the ceremonial handing over as the Chief Guest and met Anura Bandara, Administrative Secretary of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, during the ceremony.
