SL-B’desh Business Council launched at Ceylon Chamber of Commerce

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) yesterday announced the launch of the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh Business Council, under the patronage of Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tareq Mohammad Ariful Islam. 
This is the 21st business council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and it aims at bolstering Bangladesh-Sri Lanka trade and commerce, investment and business relations. 
The launch also saw the appointment of the inaugural Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh Business Council. Hayleys Advantis Ltd Director Dr. Asanka Ratnayake has been nominated as President of the committee. The eight-member committee also consists of two vice presidents and five members, representing different Sri Lankan business entities. 
In his inaugural address, Islam highlighted the business opportunities that Bangladesh offers to Sri Lanka, the investment-friendly climate in Bangladesh and the potential areas of trade, joint venture, investment and business development between the two countries. He also shared the recent developments in the business relations between the two South Asian neighbours. 
Dr. Ratnayake, in his remarks, spoke about the ample scopes of advancing Bangladesh-Sri Lanka business relations and assured the council’s commitment to work towards that end.

Meanwhile, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Duminda Hulangamuwa conducted the launch proceedings. Business leaders from a good number of Sri Lankan business houses, representing diverse sectors, were also present at the launch ceremony.
