Jetwing Lighthouse appoints Dmitri Cooray as Executive Director

The Lighthouse Hotel PLC announced the appointment of Dmitri Cooray as a new executive director to its board, effective May 23, 2025. The appointment was approved and recommended by the Nominations and Governance Committee and ratified by the Board of Directors at a meeting held on 23 May.

Cooray, a dynamic leader representing the third generation of the Cooray family in the hospitality industry, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He holds a Bachelor of Business in International Hotel & Resort Management from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Sydney, Australia, and a Diploma in Hotel Management from SHATEC Institutes, Singapore. His extensive experience includes roles with leading hotels in Singapore and Australia before he joined Jetwing Hotels in 2015. Within Jetwing, Cooray has held significant positions, including Manager operations and deputy managing director, contributing substantially to the group's growth and success.

Currently, Cooray serves as the Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels Ltd., where he oversees all operational functions. He is an active figure in the Sri Lankan tourism sector, serving as an executive committee member of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) since 2021 and representing THASL as a board member of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB). Furthermore, he holds the chairmanship of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Sri Lanka Chapter since 2022 and has been a board member of PATA International since 2023. His directorships extend to numerous privately owned companies within the Jetwing group.

The company filing confirmed that as of May 23, 2025, Mr. Nawalage Jerome Dmitri Mahinda Cooray holds 10,000 shares in The Lighthouse Hotel PLC.

Ruan Samarasinghe resigned from his executive director position on May 23, 2025, the company announced. Mr. Samarasinghe held 50,000 shares in the company. Prior to becoming managing director at Jetwing Hotels, Cooray had worked for almost ten years alongside industry experts, including his father, Hiran Cooray and  Ruan Samarasinghe. This leadership change includes Samarasinghe's departure.
