Indices edged down as a result of price losses in counters such as Dialog Axiata, Hemas Holdings and Hatton National Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 2.6bn.
High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Renuka Holdings, Hatton National Bank and CIC Holdings. Mixed interest was observed in ACL Cables, Alumex and John Keells Holdings whilst retail interest was noted in Hela Apparel Holdings, LVL Energy Rights and Mercantile Investments and Finance Rights.
Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings, Renuka Holdings, ACL Cables and Hemas Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 0.68%.
The share price of John Keells Holdings increased by Rs 0.20 (0.98%) to close at Rs. 20.70. The share price of Renuka Holdings gained Rs. 0.50 (0.93%) to close at Rs. 54.50.
The share price of ACL Cables moved up by Rs. 0.50 (0.49%) to close at Rs. 102.00. The share price of Hemas Holdings recorded a loss of Rs. 0.40 (1.21%) to close at Rs. 32.60.
Materials sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Alumex) whilst the sector index increased by 0.31%. The share price of Alumex appreciated by Rs. 1.50 (8.82%) to close at Rs. 18.50.
