Emirates will join Sri Lankans in celebrating the country’s milestone 75th anniversary of independence by serving traditional local delicacies in its lounge at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
On February 4, Emirates’ First and Business Class passengers and Skywards Gold members visiting its dedicated lounge, located on the second floor of the Arrivals Terminal, will be treated to a spread of Sri Lankan fare, available on the breakfast and hot meal menus.
The extensive breakfast menu at the lounge will be supplemented with popular Sri Lankan sweetmeats including Lavariya, Helapa and Weli Thalapa to give diners a taste of authentic local cuisine, while the hot meal options will be expanded with the traditional Sri Lankan celebratory menu of yellow rice, brinjal ‘moju’, fish ‘ambul thiyal’, jackfruit curry as well as cashew nut and green pea curry. Included in the special menu to mark the occasion are delectable fritter treats such as ‘ulundu vada’ and ‘parippu vada’, for travellers to enjoy.
