A-PAD Sri Lanka to host second symposium in Jaffna

The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) Sri Lanka will convene its second annual symposium this year on the topic of ‘Public-Private Partnership Towards Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development’ in Jaffna on October 5th .
The conference will assemble foreign delegates from over six countries of the Asia Pacific as well as local dignitaries and representatives of the public and private sectors.
With a priority focus on creating disaster resilient communities and promoting a better public-private partnership in mitigation efforts and capacitating the private sector in disaster resilience, the event will take place in the Jaffna District this year as a precursor to encouraging disaster resilient businesses in the district.
The event will be attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency, Suganuma Kenichi. N Vethanayahan, the Government Agent of the Jaffna district will be attending as Chief Guest while the Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, Maj. Gen. L B R Mark will be in attendance as Guest of Honour.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in liaison with the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies will facilitate the programme which will also conclude the A-PAD Sri Lanka Photography, Cartoon Drawing and Essay Writing Competition which is currently being conducted in the Jaffna District for youth and interested participants in the region.
The half-day event will be held at the Tilko Jaffna City Hotel.
