The ASPI edged up as a result of price gains in counters such as DFCC Bank, Melstacorp and Central Finance Company with the turnover crossing Rs. 1.9 Bn. A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in ACL Cables, Hayleys and HNB Life. Mixed interest was observed in Lanka Realty Investments, CIC Holdings nonvoting and HNB Finance whilst retail interest was noted in SMB Leasing, UB Finance Company and Industrial Asphalts. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers. 
During the week, the ASPI gained 0.2% and the S&P SL20 gained 0.5%, whilst recording an average daily turnover of Rs. 1.72 Bn. 
Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to ACL Cables and Hayleys) whilst the sector index edged down by 0.07%. The share price of ACL Cables decreased by Rs 0.50 (0.50%) to close at Rs 100.25. The share price of Hayleys gained Rs 0.50 (0.21%) to close at Rs 240.00. 
Diversified Financials sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to HNB Finance) whilst the sector index increased by 0.57%. The share price of HNB Finance appreciated by Rs 0.50 (5.49%) to close at Rs 9.60. 
Lanka Realty Investments and CIC Holdings nonvoting were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Lanka Realty Investments moved up by Rs 1.00 (1.71%) to close at Rs 59.50. The share price of CIC Holdings nonvoting recorded a gain of Rs 0.10 (0.38%) to close at Rs 26.50.
