SriLankan Chairman contradicts Weliamuna report

Says no misappropriation of funds

The past management of state-owned SriLankan Airlines had not mismanaged company funds as was stated in the Weliamuna report, the national carrier’s present head told Mirror Business. “There have been no financial m i s a p p r o p r i a t i o n s , ” S r i L a n k a n Chairman Ajith Dias told Mirror Business,

in response to what action had been taken against those accused in the Weliamuna report of gross financial mismanagement in the airline between 2009 and early 2015. Dias also took a stance similar to the one taken by Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, related to internal investigations, which the governor had said will bog down the smooth day-to-day operations. “We are running the airline. There are certain things that happened in the past and those are things that we are not responsible for and we don’t want to get involved in that,” Dias said
