October tea production up 20% YoY

Sri Lanka’s October tea production witnessed a significant year-on-year (YoY) increase of 20.33 percent, reaching a total of 22.85 million kilogrammes, according to the data released by the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
The data revealed growth across all elevations compared to the same period in 2022. However, when compared with October 2021, a decrease of 5.48 percent 
is evident.

For the cumulative period of January to October 2023, the total tea production amounted to 216.26 million kilogrammes, reflecting a YoY increase of 2.12 percent, compared to 211.77 million kilogrammes produced in the same period in 2022.In this timeframe, positive variances were observed across all elevations in 2023, compared to the corresponding period in 2022.
Conversely, when compared to the cumulative production of 258.90 million kilogrammes in January to October 2021, the total production for the same period in 2023 saw a decrease of 16.47 percent. This decrease was observed across all elevations.
