Steel manufacturer Melwa has extended its support to school children affected by the recent cyclone, distributing essential stationery and school equipment.

A large number of families across several provinces including the Central, Uva, North Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Western and Eastern Provinces were impacted by the cyclone. Many children lost their books and school supplies due to floods and landslides. With the objective of enabling uninterrupted access to education, Melwaorganised this donation programme to assist affected students in continuing their studies without disruption.

Melwa stated that the company consistently implements community development initiatives focused on education, higher education and vocational training. The company further expressed its commitment to continue supporting children across the country through similar programmes in the future, with the aim of nurturing a knowledgeable and skilled generation that contributes to strengthening Sri Lanka’s economy.

Founded in 2003, Melwa has expanded its business operations across multiple sectors, and claims it’s Sri Lanka’s largest steel manufacturer today.
