The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Richard Pieris & Company, Dialog Axiata and DFCC Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 8.2 Bn. A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in E B Creasy & Company, DFCC Bank and LOLC
Holdings. Mixed interest was observed in Bogala Graphite Lanka, Sri Lanka Telecom and Access Engineering whilst retail interest was noted in Renuka Agri Foods, Browns Investments and RIL Property.
Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers.
Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Vallibel One) whilst the sector index gained 1.43%. The share price of Vallibel One appreciated by Rs 3.00 (2.95%) to close at Rs 104.75.
The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to DFCC Bank) whilst the sector index increased by 0.49%. The share price of DFCC Bank increased by Rs 3.75 (2.26%) to close at Rs 169.75.
RIL Property, Sri Lanka Telecom and Bogala Graphite Lanka were also included amongst the top turnover contributors.
The share price of RIL Property gained Rs 1.60 (4.52%) to close at Rs 37.00. The share price of Sri Lanka Telecom moved up by Rs 7.30 (9.23%) to close at Rs 86.40. The share price of Bogala Graphite Lanka recorded a loss of Rs 21.25 (12.41%) to close at Rs 150.00.
